Joanne Kwong is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #27879) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). She holds a Master of Social Science in Counselling from the University of Hong Kong and brings more than 17 years of experience supporting children, teens, parents, and families.

In 2026 Joanne completed her Trauma-Informed Practice Certificate, deepening a counselling practice already grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy. This trauma-informed lens shapes how she works with every client — safe, paced, and relationship-centred.

At KidStart, Joanne now offers clinical counselling alongside her behaviour-analysis work: couples counselling for parents under strain, parenting support, and individual counselling for teenagers and children navigating anxiety, big emotions, family change, and the everyday weight of growing up. Her dual training means she sees both the behaviour and the feeling underneath it.

Joanne began as a behaviour specialist in 2007 and has designed individualized programs for children aged 2–19 on the autism spectrum and with developmental differences, working closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and offers sessions in person and online.
