Autism Funding closes to new families on 1 March 2027 and takes its last invoices on 31 March 2027. In its place comes the Children and Youth Disability Benefit, paying $6,500 or $17,000 a year depending on assessed need, plus an income tested supplement of up to $6,000 that requires the federal Disability Tax Credit.
The ministry sent its eligibility criteria in June. Families protested at the legislature. Since February, dozens of families have written to us about funding without being asked. What nobody has done is ask BC parents, in a structured way, what this change will actually do to their week.
So we are asking. Not to campaign, and not to sell you anything. We need to know what to build before the money changes, rather than after.
What we do with your answers
We are weighing several ways to keep therapy within reach for families whose funding drops. Your answers decide which ones we build.
Small group sessions
Lower cost per visit, the same clinicians, children working alongside peers.
Parent coaching
Fewer clinic hours, more of the work carried at home with training and a plan.
Shorter blocks
Focused runs of therapy with breaks between, instead of continuous weekly sessions.
Payment plans
Spreading the cost across the year so a funding gap does not end therapy.
Help with the tax credit
Support applying for the Disability Tax Credit, which gates the supplement and takes months.
What we will not ask for
We do not ask for your child's name, date of birth or diagnosis. You can answer completely anonymously. An email address is optional and only used to send you the findings. We will never publish anything you write without asking you first.
